The Royal Highland Show returns to Edinburgh from 21st-24th June 2018 to celebrate it’s 178th year as one of Scotland’s most iconic events.  The Show isn’t just for those in the industry, it’s a great day out for all ages with a bounty of local fresh produce to sample, amazing best in shows experiences, get up close and personal with prestigious livestock and much, much more!

We are big fans of The Royal Highland Show here at Grassmarket Hotel.  Here is just a few of the activities of what’s happening this year…

Royal Highland Show Grand Parade

The Grand Parade at The Royal Highland Show is hugely popular and the grandstand fills up quickly in the afternoons of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. These prize winning cattle can be seen to gracefully wind their way across the Main Ring headed-up by young people carrying display boards that bear the names of the breeds they are leading. If you don’t know your Belted Galloways from your Belgian Blues then this is a very rare opportunity to see so many different breeds at one time.

Royal Highland Show Music

Throughout the day there is a range of live music across the Showground at The Royal Highland Show, from choirs, bands and lots more to enjoy.

13th Avenue Arcade

Experience the retail delights located in the 13th Avenue Arcade. You’ll be spoiled for choice with everything from fashion, art jewelry, garden accessories and homeware to choose from, so come along and see for yourself.

RHET Discovery Centre

The Discovery Centre offers an education programme for children of all ages, including cooking workshops, live demonstrations and lots more! New for 2017, is the RHET Tram Trail Bingo Challenge in partnership with Edinburgh Trams, with an iPad up for grabs!
